The Southgate Operations Company employed a manager who was a ghost. The owner had a previous relationship with the ghost and thought, “How much harm can one ghost do?
The ghost was a poor manager. The ghost hovered over people about eight inches off the ground. The ghost spoke in a menacing tone. The ghost jumped out of the walls and yelled, “Boo!” Everyone was constantly terrified of the ghost.
The ghost had little need for Earthly possessions, so he spent money strangely. The office did not need a giant organ, but the tones helped the ghost focus. The ghost eliminated meals for late-night work because he personally had no need to eat. The ghost bought a huge security system to monitor employees, but the ghost never showed up on camera.
The ghost believed he was above earthly laws. When gravity no longer works for you, you don’t worry about paying your taxes. You’re less concerned about following labor laws. You have a hard time understanding why a company should function in a way that does not serve you, the ghost.
When the government came to shut down the Southgate Operations Company, the owner finally came to his senses.
“You don’t understand,” he told the officers. “We have a ghost!”
The pleas came too late. The ghost was nowhere to be found.
