Derek: In your head, there’s someone or several people from your high school who might still torment you. They don’t know they’re tormenting you, but in your head, they’re spending all of their time judging your choices. I went to an Arts school, and I still have this. So let me introduce one of these high school villains. Shelly, welcome to the show.
Shelly: It’s a newsletter.
Derek: That’s the show. I’m happy to have you. Now, I’m sure at this point, you’ve had a little bit of time to look around at Those Stories.
Shelly: You think this is how I’m spending my time? On your website?
Derek: Unfortunately, I do think that. So what’s your impression?
Shelly: This place is ridiculous.
Derek (looking around and smiling): Why yes, yes, it is.
Shelly: This is how you’re spending your time? Telling these stories?
Derek: It’s actually Those Stories. And yes, I feel like we’ve had a few hits.
Shelly: Why would someone need a story?
Derek: Well, let’s say someone has a nicer car than you.
Shelly: I doubt it.
Derek: Well, maybe this story isn’t for you. But some people place a lot of their value in a nice car. But there’s another story where a car gets you places. That’s the value. That story’s helpful to some people.
Shelly: What if you have the nicest car?
Derek: Is that important to you?
Shelly: It’s just a fact.
Derek: A lot of facts are actually stories. For example, having the most TikTok followers being of value is a story.
Shelly: I do have the most.
Derek: And I have none.
Shelly: I don’t think this place is for me.
Derek: I don’t either. But if you know someone for whom it is, send them to ThoseStories.com. Good to see you, Shelly.
