Drama Law

“If you hadn’t brought this drama up, then we wouldn’t know that we had an issue, so thank you, Brooks,” Cooper, the head of the law firm, said. “We were concerned when we read your note that someone was going through your desk. So much confidential information passes through these halls as a law firm.”

“Well, I’m just glad you’re taking it seriously,” Brooks said.

“Let’s go to the tape,” Cooper said. Brooks watched the computer monitor showing a scene from above the office and realized with horror that he was not about to see the moment someone went through his desk. Instead, Brooks saw himself unlocking the office and leading 30 people in to have a massive party in the cubicles.

Brooks could only watch in horror as people danced on tops of desks, drank from full bottles of champagne and threw case files in the air. The most humiliating moment was when Brooks flipped the light switches on and off repeatedly to create the effect of a nightclub.

Cooper skipped the video forward and showed Brooks handing the nightly cleaning crew cash to clean the whole thing up and keep things quiet. The bribe wasn’t going to help his case.

Cooper paused the video. “Well, what do you have to say for yourself?”

“Did you figure out who went through my desk?” Brooks asked.

“About 20 minutes after the party, you came back in and started searching your desk for your keys, I think.”

“So, not as much drama as I thought,” Brooks said.
