Liza set up the perfect porch experience, with shade, plants and comfortable chairs. She loves to come home after work and sit on the porch in the evening.
The only thing she can’t stand is her neighbors. They come and ruin the vibes of the porch.
The Marquises always want to talk. Milly tries to get her to walk with her brutish dog, Benny. Amelia brings over her dinner and sits on the porch with Liza without being invited.
The legend of the porch has spread so much that neighbors see it as a hangout for the whole block. Some even bring their relatives just to see the porch.
They show off the plants, the misting machines and the fantastic chairs. It’s paradise, they tell their uninvited guests. And it would be for Liza if she could get rid of her neighbors.
As a result, Liza is rooting hard for Climate Change to succeed. The neighbors cannot stand the heat, while her porch is nice and cool. In the summer heat, she rarely sees any of her neighbors as they stay in and enjoy the air conditioning.
Each year, Global Warming claims a few more days that allow her to enjoy her porch in peace. While her neighbors become more anxious about it, Liza only sees the benefit to her porch life in the great climate change debate.
