Scare People with Funny

Mal and Cal host a podcast called, I Promise It’s Funny. They are having a hard time marketing the comedy podcast, and so they decided to pay a visit to Sideways Marketing.

“Here’s the pitch,” Sideways Marketing Founder Louis Sideways said. “I Promise It’s Funny is a podcast that is so funny that it will keep you safe.”

“What?” Mal said. Cal also looked confused.

“Here’s an example,” Sideways said. “I was driving the other day, and I didn’t let this guy cut me off. He pulled up next to me at a stoplight, and was glaring at me. He yelled a couple of things. Luckily, however, I was listening to a podcast.”

“Was the podcast about how to deal with road rage?” Cal asked.

“You promise that’s funny?” Sideways said. Cal’s face fell. “I was Just kidding, making fun of your podcast name. So I’m listening to this podcast and suddenly the host says something really funny.”

“What did he say?” Mal asked.

“I’m not giving away jokes,” Sideways said, “But I laughed out loud. I looked over, and the road rage driver was suddenly terrified. He turned away from me, straightened up and lets me pass him.”

“All because you were laughing?” Cal asked.

“I looked like a madman. People don’t laugh in public. So your podcast is so funny that it stops road rage, muggings and protects you on the subway. Your slogan should be ‘All you need is to keep playing the podcast I Promise It’s Funny in your headphones, and you’ll laugh out loud and you’ll be safe.’”

Cal looked at Mal. “I’m not sure I can promise that our podcast is that funny.”
