Stand-up comedian Victoria MJ took questions from the audience after her show. A man raised his hand and said. “The Culture Awards just came out. I know you were up for best joke of the year and worst joke of the year.”
“I’m glad they came out,” Victoria said. “I’d like to say it’s always lovely to be nominated.
“You won one of them,” the man said.
“Thanks for letting me know.”
“Don’t you want to know what you won?”
“No,” Victoria said. “If I won best joke, then it validates a joke that I don’t even think is my best joke. If I won the worst joke, then I have to hate the Culture Awards for being boorish. And I like Culture Awards. So I would rather ignore them.”
“What about if you won best hair?” someone shouted out.
“That’s not even up for discussion!” Victoria said with a hair flip. “Next question, please—something I can be funny about.”
