The Night Parade Question

Michael sat on his porch as Ned approached him. Ned was a normal neighbor and never seemed to cause much trouble, but today he seemed a little distressed.

“So, I have a question for you. Have you ever been up in the middle of the night and looked out of your back window? If so, did you see a border collie carrying a tambourine, followed by a bird, a monkey and a black cat in a baseball cap?  Were they parading across your yard, making noise—like a marching band tune? Did they then stop, form a huddle, look at you and then scurry off in all directions?”

Michael looked at Ned for a long moment.

“What’s the question?”

“Has something like that ever happened to you?” Ned asked.

“No,” Michael said with a long pause. “Why do you ask?”

“No reason, just a hypothetical,” Ned said. “I’ll see you later.”
