A Big Crime or a Small Sign

The Pincher and the Hammer (nicknames they gave themselves) snuck towards the high-end clothing store, Marie Fashion, in the dead of night. Of course, they were there to rob it.

A window above the door did not latch. The pair noticed this window flaw when walking around the high-end Northpoint neighborhood and loudly proclaimed they were looking for something for their wives. Although neither had a girlfriend, the Pincher was on all of the dating apps.

“Can I get through the window?” the Hammer asked.

“No, you can’t fit,” the Pincher said. The men were about the same size, dressed in black and wearing ski masks. “Get down so I can get on your shoulders.”

The Hammer kneeled, and the Pincher stood on his shoulders. The Hammer then slowly rose as the Pincher reached for the window. The Hammer was facing the door.

“Hey, Pincher,” the Hammer said.“Did you see this sign on the door?”

“What sign? Do they say there’s one of those alarm systems? We know they don’t because we checked.”

“No, it’s a different sign I didn’t notice,” The Hammer said.

“What does it say?” The Pincher was close to going through the window, but was now looking down at the Hammer.

“No money left in the store overnight,” the Hammer said.

The Pincher paused and looked down at the Hammer. “What are we doing here then?”

“I guess we’re stealing women’s clothes,” the Hammer said.

“Then we’ll have to get those security tags off,” the Pincher added.

“Then we’ll have to spend the next three weeks finding someone to take them off our hands.”

The two looked at each other as the Pincher still stood on the Hammer’s shoulders.

“Put me down,” the Pincher said. “Let’s go to Denny’s.”
