The question was obviously coming. Demetrius Astor, the famous actor, knew that at some point during his latest movie’s press tour, the issue would have to come up.
“What do you think about the criticism that your daughter only got the role of Juliet in the upcoming movie because she’s your daughter?” The Hollywood Jungle reporter asked.
Demetrius paused for a moment. The backlash had been hard on his daughter, Lilac. She faced a lot of online harassment, calls of being a nepo baby and campaigns everywhere she went protesting her casting in the latest Shakespeare movie.
“You know what’s worse than being told you only got where you are now because you have famous parents?” Demetrius said to the reporter. “Having a famous parent and failing at every turn.”
“What do you mean?” the reporter asked.
“What’s my son Brent up to?” Demetrius replied. “He can barely hold a job, and he looks like a vampire because he’s never seen the sun. He’s a mess. I’m proud of my daughter. She may have started on third base in this industry, but she still had to do the work. Brent just keeps getting thrown out for wandering off the base paths.”
“I don’t understand all the sports metaphors,” the reporter replied.
“My son is wasting his potential,” Demetrius stated. “My daughter can definitely play Juliet.”
