The Rogue Knight

The left black Knight on the chess board was waiting to make a move after a white pawn moved and started the game. No one seemed to be moving, so he yelled to the Queen, “What’s going on?”

The King croaked behind her, but she abruptly held up her hand and silenced the King. “Our general has sent in the orders. He’s putting his faith in us, and we can make our own moves. With that being said…”

The Knight didn’t wait to listen to the Queen’s instructions. He jumped the pawns. Finally, someone was ready to put him in charge. This new general had the right idea.

The Knight jumped again. The Knight needed two more moves before he could take out his first pawn. He was the fastest piece on the board. As long as he kept jumping, no one could stop him. No one could put him up as a sacrifice, either. He was going to take the game himself.

He jumped again and again to take the pawn. Then he heard the announcement: Checkmate. He looked back to his side. The white pieces had taken the pawn in front of the King and positioned its Queen to block him in.

The Knight trotted back to its spot on the board with everyone glaring at him. The bishops were making the sign of a cross in an attempt to ward off evil spirits from the Knight. The Castles raised their draw bridges, and the Queen just smirked. The Knight got back into his place.

“The general has a new plan,” the Queen announced, “Sacrifice the Knight first.”
