Are You Lost Coffee?

Some see him as a sage, others as an opportunist. However, everyone agrees that Ray Peach is persistent. Ray sets up shop on a bench at a street corner downtown in front of a coffee shop for a couple of hours every day.

Ray saw a woman looking around as the light was about to turn.

“Excuse me,” Ray said, “But are you lost?”

“No, I’m good,” the woman said and crossed the street.

A few minutes later, a man with a backpack stood on the street corner and seemed very concerned about something on his phone.

“Hello,” Ray said. “Are you lost?”

“Hey, you asked me that a couple of days ago. What are you playing at?” the man said, walking briskly across the street.

A teenage girl walked up to the street corner and almost walked in both directions before stopping and pulling out her phone.

“Hi there, are you lost?” Ray asked from his bench.

“Yes!” the girl said. “Do you know how to get to the train station?”

Ray gave her instructions, and she happily went on her way.

A young man with a notebook walked up to the corner. He seemed a little dazed.

“Are you lost?” Ray asked.

The young man looked at Ray for a long moment. His eyes were red, and he trembled slightly. “Yes.”

“How about I buy you a cup of coffee?” Ray said, leading the man into the coffee shop.
